Basicillas
Basicillas are a genus of small, herbaceous plants belonging to the family Boraginaceae. They are native to the Mediterranean region, with a few species extending into the Middle East. These plants are typically annuals or biennials, growing to a modest height of 10 to 30 centimeters. Their leaves are usually simple, often ovate or lanceolate, and can be hairy or smooth depending on the species. The flowers of Basicillas are small and inconspicuous, usually white or pale blue, and bloom during the spring and summer months. They are borne in terminal clusters. The fruit is a small nutlet. Basicillas are not widely cultivated and are generally considered weeds in their native habitats, often found in disturbed areas, fields, and along roadsides. Their ecological role is primarily as a food source for some insects. Identification of specific species within the Basicillas genus can be challenging due to their small size and similar morphology.
