Bascea

Bascea is a fictional village in the Highvale region of the Northlandia Commonwealth. It lies in the Bascea Valley along the Brin River, about 35 kilometers from the regional capital. The population is approximately 1,350 residents.

The name Bascea is drawn from Bascean dialect roots meaning "river bend" or "ridge." The village sits at an altitude of roughly 480 meters, in a wooded valley surrounded by mixed forests, with a temperate climate and four distinct seasons.

Bascea was founded in the 12th century by settlers from the Lowlands who established a watermill and hillside terraces. It forms part of the Lyria District and is governed by a locally elected council headed by a mayor. The village preserves a stone bridge from the 17th century.

The local economy relies on agriculture (potatoes, barley) and forestry, with a growing rural-tourism sector centered on hiking and agritourism. Cultural life centers on an annual Harvest Festival and a weekly market. The Bascean dialect is spoken by some residents.

Bascea is connected by a regional road and a daily bus service to the district town; Bascea Elementary School serves primary education, with secondary schooling available in the nearby town. A small health clinic serves residents.
