Baryshnikov, born Yuri Nikolayevich Baryshnikov on January 27, 1948, is a renowned Russian-American ballet dancer, choreographer, and actor. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest ballet dancers of the 20th century. Baryshnikov was born in Moscow, Soviet Union, and began his dance training at the age of seven. He joined the Bolshoi Ballet in 1965 and quickly rose to prominence, becoming a principal dancer in 1968. His breakthrough performance was as the title role in George Balanchine's "Swan Lake" in 1969.
