Banqiao

Banqiao District (板橋區) is a district in New Taipei City, Taiwan. It lies in the western part of the municipality and serves as its administrative and commercial center. Banqiao is one of the most populous districts in New Taipei and hosts a concentration of government offices, businesses, and services.

Historically, Banqiao began as a market town in the late Qing period and developed with the arrival of rail transportation in the early 20th century. After the merger of Taipei County with Taipei City to form New Taipei City in 2010, Banqiao became the administrative heart of the new municipality.

Banqiao Station is a major intermodal transport hub, providing connections to Taiwan Railways and Taipei Metro, and serving as a gateway to western New Taipei. The surrounding area features a dense urban core with shopping, dining, and residential development.

Education and culture are represented by a range of schools and cultural facilities, with ongoing redevelopment projects aimed at balancing historic neighborhoods with modern infrastructure and parks.
