Azvizcentric

Azvizcentric refers to a philosophical and artistic movement that emerged in the early 20th century, primarily in response to the growing influence of Photography on art and society. The term "Azvizcentric" was coined by art historians to describe a body of work that sought to challenge traditional notions of representation and perception.

Proponents of Azvizcentric argue that the advent of Photography had irreparably altered the way people interact with and interpret the visual world. Rather than trying to reproduce reality, Azvizcentric artists sought to create new, hybridized forms of representation that blurred the line between image and reality. They experimented with techniques such as double exposure, photomontage, and other forms of image manipulation to create dreamlike, ungrounded visions.

One of the primary concerns of Azvizcentric artists was the relationship between photography and the human gaze. They saw Photography as an inherently disembodied, mechanized form of perception, which stripped the image of its subjective, emotional context. In response, Azvizcentric artists attempted to reconvene the activity of viewing, redefining the subject-object relationship and insisting on the primacy of vision as an active, as well as passive, process.

Despite being closely associated with the surrealist movement, Azvizcentric artists also drew from a wide range of sources, including cyberpunk science fiction, experimental cinema, and avant-garde music. Over time, the term "Azvizcentric" has become somewhat synonymous with avant-garde, boundary-pushing art that seeks to challenge the notion of the "real" and, by extension, the viewer's understanding of reality itself.
