Autoriseerimissüsteem

An autoriseerimissüsteem, or authorization system, is a fundamental component of information security. Its primary function is to determine whether an authenticated user or entity has the necessary permissions to access specific resources or perform certain actions within a system. Unlike authentication, which verifies *who* a user is, authorization dictates *what* that user is allowed to do.

These systems typically operate based on predefined rules, policies, or access control lists (ACLs). When a user attempts to perform an action, the authorization system checks if the user's identity, combined with the requested action and the target resource, satisfies the established criteria. If the criteria are met, the action is permitted; otherwise, it is denied.

Common models for authorization include Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), where permissions are assigned to roles, and users are then assigned to those roles, and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC), which uses a set of attributes about the user, resource, and environment to make access decisions.
