This process involves chemical reactions or physical changes that lead to an increase in the material's strength, hardness, and rigidity.

In the context of polymers, Aushärtungsprozessen often describes the curing of thermosetting resins. This involves cross-linking of polymer chains, forming a rigid, three-dimensional network. This cross-linking can be initiated by heat, a catalyst, or radiation. The process is typically irreversible, meaning the material cannot be reshaped once cured.
