Aurivillius
Aurivillius is a surname of Swedish origin, derived from the Latin word "aurum," meaning gold. It is also associated with the Swedish botanist Carl Skottsberg Aurivillius, who was born in 1866 and died in 1950. Aurivillius made significant contributions to the field of botany, particularly in the study of the flora of the Malay Archipelago. He is known for his extensive work on the family Fabaceae, including the genera Mimosa and Inga. His contributions to botanical nomenclature include the description of numerous new species and the revision of several genera. Aurivillius also served as the director of the Botanical Museum in Stockholm from 1911 to 1936. His work has been instrumental in advancing our understanding of the diverse plant life of Southeast Asia.
