Atmorans

Atmorans are a fictional group of people featured in Bethesda Softworks' video game series The Elder Scrolls. They are the ancestral race of the Nords, a prominent human ethnic group in the game's world of Tamriel. The Atmorans originated on the continent of Atmora, a harsh and frozen land to the north of Tamriel.

Historical accounts suggest that the Atmorans were a hardy and warlike people, skilled in combat and survival. They were known for their strong tribal structures and their reverence for the ancestral spirits. Over time, facing increasing hardship in Atmora, a significant portion of the Atmoran population migrated to Tamriel, eventually settling in the northernmost region, which would come to be known as Skyrim.

These migrants are considered the direct ancestors of the Nords. The Atmorans who remained in Atmora eventually disappeared, with legends and in-game texts offering various explanations for their fate, including self-destruction through internal conflict or a final, catastrophic event that rendered the continent uninhabitable. Artifacts and ruins attributed to the Atmorans can be found in Skyrim, providing glimpses into their culture and history. The Atmoran language is believed to be the precursor to the modern Nordic tongue.
