Asunos

Asunos refers to a group of islands located in the southern part of the Azure Archipelago. The archipelago itself is known for its diverse marine life and unique geological formations. Asunos comprises three main islands, each with distinct characteristics. The largest island, known locally as Grande Asuno, features a volcanic mountain range that dominates its interior. The surrounding waters are rich in coral reefs, making it a popular destination for diving and snorkeling.

The second island, Isla Serena, is characterized by its lush rainforests and numerous freshwater springs. This island is home to a variety of endemic plant and animal species, some of which are found nowhere else in the world. Local communities on Isla Serena are primarily involved in sustainable agriculture and fishing.

The smallest of the islands, Cayo Pequeño, is a low-lying atoll with white sandy beaches and a tranquil lagoon. It is largely uninhabited, serving as a nesting ground for sea turtles and various bird species. Access to Cayo Pequeño is restricted to protect its delicate ecosystem. The islands of Asunos are subject to tropical weather patterns, with a distinct wet and dry season. The local economy relies heavily on ecotourism and the export of certain agricultural products.
