Asteroidization
Asteroidization is a geological term describing the process by which a solid celestial body, such as a planet or moon, is transformed into a collection of smaller, irregularly shaped fragments resembling an asteroid. This transformation typically occurs due to a catastrophic impact event. A massive collision can impart enough energy to shatter the parent body, dispersing its material into a rubble pile or a swarm of smaller objects. The degree of asteroidization depends on the size and velocity of the impactor, as well as the composition and internal structure of the target body.
The resulting debris can range from microscopic dust grains to kilometer-sized fragments. Some of these fragments
