Asians

Asians are people who originate from the continent of Asia or who trace their ancestry to Asian nations. Asia is the largest and most populous continent, home to more than four and a half billion people. The term encompasses a wide range of ethnic groups, cultures, languages, and religions.

Geographically, Asia stretches from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Indian Ocean in the south and from the Ural Mountains in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east. It includes subregions such as East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and Western Asia, each with distinct histories and identities.

Asia is marked by immense cultural and linguistic diversity. Many major religions originated there, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Confucianism, Taoism, and Shinto. The continent has contributed richly to literature, art, science, and technology, and hosts hundreds of languages. Language families common in Asia include Sino-Tibetan, Indo-European, Dravidian, and Turkic, with a wide variety of scripts.

Historically, Asia was connected to other continents through trade networks such as the Silk Road, enabling cultural and economic exchange. In modern times, Asian economies range from large, highly developed systems to rapidly growing markets. Diasporas from Asia are now established in many countries, contributing to global society.

Because Asia is so diverse, the experiences of Asians vary widely across countries and communities. The term often refers to shared continental origins as well as national, ethnic, or cultural identities.
