Arvemasse

Arvemasse refers to a traditional Scandinavian concept rooted in Norse mythology and folklore, often associated with the idea of a "spirit of the dead" or a malevolent entity that lingers in the afterlife. The term is derived from Old Norse, where *arv* means "inheritance" or "legacy," and *massi* (or *massi*) can be loosely interpreted as "mass" or "spirit." In this context, it typically describes a restless or vengeful spirit that fails to move on to Valhalla or the afterlife, instead lingering in the world of the living.

According to Norse beliefs, the arvemasse was thought to be the soul of an individual who died violently, unjustly, or under mysterious circumstances. These spirits were believed to be bound to the earth, sometimes seeking retribution against those responsible for their untimely demise.
