Armos

Armos refers to a fictional creature within the Legend of Zelda video game series. Armos are humanoid statues carved from stone that survive as ancient guardians. In most games, they remain inert until activated by player interaction, at which point the statue comes to life and can impede progress or attack the player.

Across titles, Armos appear in dungeon rooms as both puzzle elements and enemies. They can be encountered

Outside the Zelda franchise, the term Armos is rarely used and has no widely recognized independent meaning;

groups
or
singly,
often
standing
on
floor
tiles
or
raised
pedestals.
Activation
is
typically
triggered
by
stepping
on
pressure
plates
or
pulling
levers,
and
in
some
games
by
approaching
or
looking
at
them.
Once
animated,
Armos
pursue
the
player
and
must
be
defeated
or
circumvented
to
proceed.
In
several
entries
a
larger
variant,
sometimes
called
Armos
Knight,
serves
as
a
miniboss
or
boss
encounter,
increasing
the
challenge
and
reinforcing
the
series’
themes
of
ancient
magic
and
guardians.
