ArmagnacTénarèze

Armagnac-Ténarèze is one of the three traditional terroirs of Armagnac, the southwest French brandy region known for producing distinctive eaux-de-vie. It forms a central belt of Armagnac country, primarily in the Gers department with extensions into Lot-et-Garonne. The zone lies between Bas-Armagnac to the southwest and Haut Armagnac to the northeast, and its boundaries are used for viticultural and production purposes within the Armagnac AOC system.

After
harvest,
the
grapes
are
pressed,
fermented
to
wine,
and
usually
distilled
once
in
a
copper
still
to
produce

fresh
eaux-de-vie,
which
are
then
aged
in
oak
casks.
Armagnac-Ténarèze
is
often
described
as
producing
spirits
with
a
balance
of
fruit
and
structure,
tending
to
develop
complexity
as
they
mature.

producers
offer
a
range
of
bottlings
from
young
expressions
to
longer-aged
or
vintage
Armagnacs.
The
terroir
is
valued
for
contributing
depth,
finesse,

aging

the

eaux-de-vie
frequently
sought
for
blending
as
well
as
for
standalone
aged
spirits.
