Arkiston

Arkiston is a town in the fictional nation of Veridia, serving as the administrative center of the Larkvale District. It sits along the Alden River, approximately 40 kilometers north of Veridia’s capital. The climate is temperate, with four distinct seasons.

The settlement originated in the 12th century as a market village and grew through river trade. It received its municipal charter in 1423 and expanded in the 19th century with mills and a railway branch, which helped diversify the local economy.

Geographically, the town covers about 18 square kilometers. Hills lie to the west and floodplains to the east, with the Alden River fostering commerce and providing water for industry and agriculture.

As of the latest estimates, Arkiston has around 11,700 residents. It is governed by a town council led by a mayor and falls under Veridia’s national government. The local administration emphasizes heritage preservation, public services, and housing planning.

Economy and transportation are characterized by a mix of light manufacturing, agriculture, and services. Key employers include a food-processing plant and a logistics firm. Arkiston is connected by a railway station on the Veridia–North Line and a network of regional highways; local buses provide intracity service.

Cultural and historical features include Arkiston Abbey ruins dating to the medieval era, the 19th-century Town Hall, and the Riverside Park. The annual Harvest Market is a regional event. Educational institutions include Arkiston Community College and a satellite campus of Veridia University.
