Arkealar
Arkealar are a domain of single-celled microorganisms that, along with bacteria and eukaryotes, make up one of the three fundamental domains of life. Unlike bacteria, arkea have distinct cell membrane lipid compositions and their cell walls are made of various compounds, but not peptidoglycan. Genetically, arkea share some similarities with eukaryotes, particularly in their gene expression and DNA replication processes. However, they are still considered a separate domain due to significant differences in their biochemistry and evolutionary history.
Arkea are found in a wide range of environments, including extreme conditions such as hot springs, salt
Historically, arkea were initially classified as bacteria due to their microscopic size and lack of a nucleus.
