Arabískur
Arabíska is the Icelandic word for Arabic. It refers to the Semitic language spoken by Arabs, with its primary literary and classical form being Modern Standard Arabic. This language is also the liturgical language of Islam. Modern Standard Arabic is used in formal contexts such as writing, news broadcasts, and public speeches across the Arab world. However, numerous spoken vernacular dialects of Arabic exist, which can differ significantly from Modern Standard Arabic and from each other. These dialects are typically used in everyday conversation. The Arabic script, which is written from right to left, is used to write the language. Historically, Arabic has had a profound influence on many other languages, including Persian, Turkish, Urdu, and even Spanish and Portuguese. The Arab world spans a vast geographical area, encompassing North Africa and Western Asia.
