Anving

The process of anving is typically described as involving several stages: inception, where a sign appears in limited contexts; diffusion, with increasing usage across networks; stabilization, where meanings converge and become predictable; and variation, where minor regional or contextual differences persist. Mechanisms that support anving include social diffusion through dense networks, cross-contextual validation of meaning, metaphorical extension, and feedback from communication technologies that amplify reach.

Academic discussion of anving is not universally standardized. Some scholars regard it as overlapping with existing notions such as lexical diffusion, conventionalization, or semantic broadening, while others argue it highlights the social-cognitive dynamics of meaning construction.
