AntizyklonenStrömungen, also known as anticyclonic currents, are atmospheric circulation patterns associated with high-pressure systems, or anticyclones. Unlike cyclonic currents, which rotate counter-clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere around low-pressure centers, anticyclonic currents exhibit the opposite rotational direction. In the Northern Hemisphere, they move clockwise, and in the Southern Hemisphere, they move counter-clockwise.

These currents are characterized by descending air from higher altitudes. As air sinks, it compresses and warms, leading to increased evaporation and a reduction in cloud formation and precipitation. Consequently, areas under the influence of anticyclonic currents typically experience stable weather conditions, with clear skies, calm winds, and often prolonged periods of fair weather. In winter, this can lead to cold, stagnant air near the surface, while in summer, it can result in heatwaves. The strength and persistence of anticyclonic currents can significantly influence regional and global weather patterns, contributing to drought conditions or extended periods of sunshine.
