Antiphrases
Antiphrases are a rhetorical device where a word or phrase is used in a sense contrary to its original or usual meaning. This is often done for ironic or humorous effect. The intended meaning is understood through context, tone of voice, or shared understanding between the speaker and listener.
A common example of antiphrasis is calling a very tall person "Shorty" or a very messy room
The effectiveness of an antiphrase depends heavily on the situation and the audience's ability to recognize
