Antihormonit

Antihormonit, also known as anti-hormonal agents or hormone antagonists, are a class of drugs that block the effects of hormones in the body. They work by interfering with the production or action of specific hormones, which are chemical messengers produced by glands that regulate various bodily functions. Antihormonit are primarily used in the treatment of hormone-sensitive cancers, such as breast cancer and prostate cancer, where the growth of cancer cells is fueled by hormones.

These drugs can operate through several mechanisms. Some, known as hormone synthesis inhibitors, reduce the amount of specific hormones produced by the body. Others, called hormone receptor blockers, prevent hormones from binding to their receptors on target cells, thus stopping the hormonal signal that promotes cell growth. Similarly, anti-androgens are used in prostate cancer to block the effects of testosterone.

These side effects can include hot flashes, fatigue, bone loss, and mood changes.
