Ansiopäivärahaa

Ansiopäivärahaa, often referred to as earnings-related daily allowance, is a form of unemployment benefit available in Finland. It is intended to partially compensate for the loss of income experienced by an individual who has become unemployed and meets certain eligibility criteria. The amount of ansiopäivärahaa is typically based on the individual's previous earnings from employment.

To be eligible for ansiopäivärahaa, a person must be unemployed, actively seeking work, and registered as a jobseeker with the Employment and Economic Development Office. Furthermore, a prerequisite is having been a member of a Finnish unemployment fund (työttömyyskassa) and having accumulated sufficient employment history within a specified period before becoming unemployed. This employment history requirement is often referred to as the "employment condition."

The daily allowance is paid by the unemployment fund to which the individual belongs. The duration for which ansiopäivärahaa can be received is limited, with different periods applying based on age and employment history. When the entitlement to earnings-related unemployment benefit ends, an individual may be eligible for basic unemployment benefits, such as peruspäiväraha or työmarkkinatuki, provided they meet the conditions for those benefits. The system aims to provide financial support during unemployment while encouraging a return to work.
