Ankhmahor

Ankhmahor was an ancient Egyptian official who lived during the Sixth Dynasty. He held the significant title of Overseer of the Royal Scribes and was also a priest. His tomb, a mastaba, is located in Saqqara, a prominent necropolis south of Cairo. This tomb is particularly famous for its reliefs, which offer valuable insights into daily life and religious practices of the era.

One of the most notable features of Ankhmahor's tomb is the depiction of a circumcision scene. This is one of the earliest and most detailed representations of this ritual found in ancient Egypt. The reliefs also show scenes of agricultural labor, craftsmanship, and offerings, providing a rich tapestry of the administrative and social structure of the time. Ankhmahor's role as Overseer of the Royal Scribes suggests he was a high-ranking literate official involved in managing state records and administration.
