Anhilpur, also known as Anhilavada or Patan, is a historic city located in the Indian state of Gujarat. It was once the capital of the powerful Chaulukya dynasty, also known as the Solanki dynasty, which ruled a significant portion of Gujarat and Rajasthan from the 10th to the 13th centuries. The city derives its name from the chieftain Vanraj Chavda, who is said to have founded it in 745 AD and named it after his companion, Anhil.
