Anglosaský

Anglosaský refers to the Anglo-Saxons, a historical group of Germanic peoples who inhabited Great Britain from the 5th century. They emerged from the migration of various Germanic tribes, including the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes, into the island after the Roman withdrawal. The term "Anglo-Saxon" itself is a later invention, used to distinguish the inhabitants of England from other Germanic groups and the native Britons. Their arrival marked the beginning of the Anglo-Saxon period in English history, which lasted until the Norman Conquest in 1066.

The Anglo-Saxons established several kingdoms in England, often referred to as the Heptarchy. They developed their own distinct culture, language (Old English), legal systems, and social structures. Their influence is evident in many aspects of modern English culture, language, and place names. Christianity was gradually adopted by the Anglo-Saxons, replacing their earlier pagan beliefs. The conversion process began in the late 6th century. Major historical events during the Anglo-Saxon period include the Viking invasions, which led to significant cultural exchange and the establishment of the Danelaw. The Anglo-Saxon era concluded with the Battle of Hastings and the subsequent Norman rule.
