Analoogvõimendid, or analog amplifiers, are electronic circuits designed to increase the amplitude of an analog signal. An analog signal is a continuous electrical signal that represents a physical quantity, such as sound or temperature, and can vary smoothly over time. Analog amplifiers take a small input analog signal and produce a larger output analog signal that is a scaled replica of the input. This scaling is determined by the amplifier's gain, which is the ratio of the output signal's amplitude to the input signal's amplitude.

The fundamental principle behind analog amplification involves using an active component, such as a transistor or vacuum tube, controlled by the input signal. This active component acts like a valve, regulating a larger power supply current or voltage according to the variations of the input signal. The power for the amplified output signal comes from the power supply, not the input signal itself.

Analog amplifiers are crucial in many electronic systems. They are found in audio equipment, like stereo systems and musical instrument amplifiers, where they boost weak audio signals to drive speakers. They are also used in radio frequency (RF) communication systems to amplify weak radio waves, in sensor interfaces to magnify small signals from sensors, and in various instrumentation and control applications. Different types of analog amplifiers exist, including voltage amplifiers, current amplifiers, transconductance amplifiers, and transresistance amplifiers, each optimized for specific signal types and applications. The design of analog amplifiers often involves trade-offs between gain, bandwidth, noise, distortion, and power consumption.
