Analoogseadmed

Analoogseadmed, often referred to as analog devices in English, are electronic devices that operate on continuous signals. Unlike digital devices that use discrete values, analog devices process and represent information as a continuously varying physical quantity, such as voltage or current. This means that the output signal is directly proportional to the input signal.

Common examples of analog devices include traditional record players, where the stylus reads grooves on a vinyl record, translating them into an analog audio signal. Thermometers that use the expansion or contraction of mercury or alcohol in response to temperature changes are also analog. Older radios that tune into specific frequencies and amplify analog radio waves, and many types of sensors, such as those measuring pressure, temperature, or light, often produce analog outputs.

The fundamental principle behind analog devices is their ability to mirror the physical phenomenon they are measuring or processing. While digital technology has become dominant in many areas due to its precision, error correction capabilities, and ease of manipulation, analog devices remain crucial in fields like audio engineering, radio communication, and certain scientific instrumentation where direct representation of continuous physical phenomena is advantageous. The conversion between analog and digital signals is a key process in modern electronics, allowing analog information to be processed and stored digitally.
