Analoogringhäälingut

Analoogringhäälingut refers to the transmission of information, typically audio and video signals, in an analog format. In analog broadcasting, the signal is a continuous wave that varies in amplitude or frequency to represent the information. This is in contrast to digital broadcasting, where information is converted into discrete binary code.

Historically, analog broadcasting was the dominant method for television and radio. For television, analog signals modulated radio waves to carry visual and auditory information. Different standards, such as NTSC, PAL, and SECAM, were used in different regions to encode the analog video signal. Radio broadcasting also relied heavily on analog modulation, with AM (Amplitude Modulation) and FM (Frequency Modulation) being the most common techniques for transmitting audio.

The primary characteristic of analog signals is their susceptibility to noise and interference. As the signal travels from the transmitter to the receiver, it can pick up unwanted disturbances that degrade the quality of the received image or sound. This can manifest as static on radios or "ghosting" and snow on televisions.

In recent decades, there has been a global shift towards digital broadcasting. Digital signals are more robust against interference, allowing for higher quality transmission and more efficient use of spectrum. Digital broadcasting also enables advanced features like high-definition television (HDTV) and interactive services. As a result, analog broadcasting has been largely phased out in many parts of the world, with countries transitioning to fully digital transmission systems.
