Anaenda

Anaenda is a Swahili verb form meaning “he/she goes” or “he/she is going.” It is the third-person singular present tense of the verb kuenda, which means “to go.” The form is built from the subject concord a- (for he/she), the present tense marker na-, and the verb stem enda. Translation can reflect movement, habitual action, or near-future intent depending on context.

Usage and examples help illustrate its function. Anaenda nyumbani means “he/she is going home” or “he/she goes home.” Anaenda kazini means “he/she is going to work.” Swahili does not rely on a distinct progressive aspect, so anaenda can express both a current action and a near-future plan, again depending on accompanying words and context.
