Aminoalkanes
Aminoalkanes are a class of organic compounds that contain both an amine functional group and an alkane backbone. Structurally, they are characterized by the presence of at least one nitrogen atom bonded to an alkyl group or groups, and at least one hydrogen atom. The general formula for a saturated aminoalkane can be represented as R-NH2, R2NH, or R3N, where R represents an alkyl group. These compounds are also known as alkylamines.
Aminoalkanes can be classified based on the number of alkyl groups attached to the nitrogen atom: primary
The presence of the amine group makes aminoalkanes basic, as the nitrogen atom has a lone pair
