Alysanne

Alysanne is a fictional character featured in George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series and its companion book "The World of Ice & Fire." She is a prominent figure in the history of the Targaryen dynasty, known as Alysanne the Wise. She was the daughter of King Aenys I Targaryen and Queen Alyssa Velaryon, and the older sister and second wife of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen. Their union produced thirteen children, though not all survived to adulthood.

Alysanne played a significant role in the governance of Westeros during her husband's long reign. She was instrumental in advocating for the poor and the common folk, earning her the moniker "the Wise." One of her most notable achievements was her campaign to abolish the feudal system of the First Night, a supposed right of lords to sleep with a bride on her wedding night. She also oversaw the construction of the Great Sept of Baelor in King's Landing, a grand religious edifice.

Her relationship with Jaehaerys was complex, marked by both affection and occasional disagreements regarding matters of state and succession. Alysanne was known for her strong will and sharp intellect, often offering counsel that her husband valued. Her influence extended beyond political matters, as she was also a patron of the arts and sciences. She was a dragonrider, her mount being the large red dragon Vermithor. Alysanne's legacy is one of a benevolent and influential queen who left a lasting impact on the Seven Kingdoms.
