Alumiinkloridi
Alumiinkloridi is the chemical compound with the formula AlCl3. It exists as a covalent compound in the solid state and is a white crystalline solid that readily sublimes in dry air. When exposed to moist air, it hydrolyzes to form aluminum hydroxide and hydrogen chloride gas, giving off a pungent odor. Alumiinkloridi is highly soluble in water, and its solutions are acidic due to hydrolysis.
Industrially, Alumiinkloridi is produced by the exothermic reaction of aluminum with chlorine gas at high temperatures.
