Aluekäytävähyllytaso

Aluekäytävähyllytaso, often referred to as a narrow aisle racking system, is a type of industrial shelving designed for optimizing storage space in warehouses and distribution centers. Its defining characteristic is the significantly reduced aisle width compared to traditional selective racking. This narrow aisle design allows for more pallet positions to be installed within the same overall footprint, thereby increasing storage density.

These systems are typically operated by specialized equipment such as very narrow aisle (VNA) trucks or turret trucks. These trucks are designed to navigate the confined spaces between the racking aisles. The operation of these trucks often requires guidance systems, which can include wire guidance embedded in the floor or optical guidance systems.

The primary advantage of an aluekäytävähyllytaso is its high storage capacity. By minimizing aisle space, warehouses can store a greater volume of goods, which is particularly beneficial in facilities where space is at a premium or where land costs are high. This increased density can lead to significant cost savings in terms of building size and operational efficiency.

However, the use of specialized handling equipment also means a higher initial investment in machinery. Furthermore, the operational flexibility can be somewhat reduced compared to wider aisle systems, as only the specialized trucks can access the stored goods. Safety protocols are also critical in VNA operations due to the close proximity of the equipment to the racking.
