Altadena is an unincorporated community and census-designated place located in Los Angeles County, California, nestled at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. It lies directly north of Pasadena and is known for its affluent residential areas, distinctive street names often referencing poets and authors, and its proximity to natural landscapes. The area experiences a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters.

Historically, the region was inhabited by the Tongva people before Spanish colonization. In the late 19th century, it began to develop as a rural residential area, attracting wealthy residents seeking cooler temperatures and scenic views. The iconic Christmas Tree Lane, officially named Santa Rosa Avenue, is a significant local landmark, lined with majestic deodar cedar trees that are illuminated annually during the holiday season, drawing visitors from across the region.
