Alilause

Alilause is a fictional village in the northern highlands of the fantasy realm Eldoria. Located along the Silver River, it lies about 60 miles north of Valmere and serves as a local center for weaving and timbercraft.

The name is derived from Old Eldorian elements ali-, meaning "place," and lause, "stillness," reflecting the village's association with a tranquil stream nearby; manuscripts note alternative spellings such as Alilauz or Alilares.

Founded circa 1140 by the Logren clan, Alilause developed as a timber and textile hub. It is governed by a village council of elders with a reeve as chief official.

As of the most recent in-universe census, the population is around 1,100–1,200. The economy centers on timber, wool weaving, and dairy farming, with a weekly market and craft workshops.

The village is known for its winter loom festival, where looms produce cloth with a distinctive silver thread. Notable landmarks include the Silver Mill, the Old Weir, and the White Pine Chapel.

In Eldorian fiction, Alilause often appears as a rural counterpoint to urban centers, illustrating themes of community resilience and intergenerational craft knowledge.
