Ajannäyttölaitteet, commonly known as clocks, are instruments designed to measure and indicate time. Throughout history, humans have developed various mechanisms to track the passage of hours, minutes, and seconds. Early forms included sundials, which relied on the sun's shadow, and water clocks, which used the flow of water. Mechanical clocks, emerging in the Middle Ages, marked a significant advancement, utilizing gears and weights or springs to regulate movement. The invention of the pendulum by Christiaan Huygens in the 17th century further improved accuracy.
The 20th century saw the rise of electric clocks and, more importantly, quartz clocks, which use the
