Agnivarna

Agnivarna was a king mentioned in ancient Indian texts, particularly the Puranas. He is typically listed as a ruler in the lineage of the Surya Vamsha, or Solar Dynasty, which traces its ancestry to the sun god Surya. The Puranas, such as the Vishnu Purana and the Bhagavata Purana, provide genealogical lists of kings, and Agnivarna appears in these accounts as a successor to his father and predecessor, Shatrughna.

The narrative surrounding Agnivarna is generally brief and focuses on his place in the dynastic succession. Some texts describe him as a ruler who indulged in sensual pleasures, leading to a decline in his health and ultimately his death. His reign is often depicted as a period of weakening for the kingdom, foreshadowing further decline in subsequent generations. His son, Kalmasha Pada, is usually named as his successor.
