Adalricus
Adalricus, also known as Adalrich, was a Frankish king who ruled from 662 to 679. He was the son of King Chlothar III and his wife Bathild. Adalricus is notable for his role in the Frankish civil wars that plagued the kingdom during the Merovingian period. After the death of his father in 673, Adalricus and his brother Childeric II both claimed the throne. This led to a prolonged conflict known as the "Year of the Four Kings," where four claimants to the throne fought for control of the Frankish realm. Adalricus eventually emerged victorious and became the sole ruler of the Franks. His reign was marked by attempts to maintain stability and unity within the fragmented kingdom. Adalricus died in 679, and his reign was followed by a period of further instability and conflict among the Frankish nobility. His legacy is largely overshadowed by the broader political turmoil of the Merovingian dynasty.
