Acetabulumkülge

Acetabulumkülge is a term that may be encountered in limited medical literature to denote the margin or rim of the acetabulum, the cup-shaped socket of the hip joint. It is not part of the standardized anatomical nomenclature used in major reference works, and its exact meaning can vary by language or author. In standard hip anatomy, the rim of the acetabulum is described as the acetabular rim, and it is lined by the acetabular labrum, a fibrocartilaginous ring that deepens the socket and contributes to joint stability. The term acetabulumkülge is sometimes used to refer to this margin region, including the site of labral attachment, though this usage is not universal.

Anatomically, the acetabular rim marks the boundary between the osseous margin and the socket interior, where articular cartilage covers the rim and the labrum articulates with the femoral head. The region thus plays a role in joint congruity and sealing of the hip joint. Clinically, pathology at or near the acetabular margin can involve labral tears, rim impingement, or osteophyte formation, and may be evaluated with MRI or CT imaging.
