Acciaroli

Acciaroli is a coastal frazione of the comune of Pollica in the province of Salerno, Campania, southern Italy. It lies on the Cilento coast facing the Tyrrhenian Sea. The village features a working fishing harbor, a sandy beach, and a historic center with narrow lanes and whitewashed houses. Its economy centers on fishing, small-scale tourism, and seasonal services.

Administratively, Acciaroli is part of Pollica, a municipality in the Campania region. The area around the Cilento coast, including Acciaroli, lies within the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Cilento and Vallo di Diano and the Amalfi Coast” for its cultural and natural values.

The village preserves a traditional Mediterranean character with a maritime heritage. The nearby village of Pioppi is also part of Pollica and is noted for its role in studies of the Mediterranean diet.

In the late 20th century Acciaroli was mentioned in discussions of longevity in the Cilento region due to reports of a high proportion of elderly residents; later analyses have presented more nuanced pictures, and demographics reflect common patterns of aging in rural southern Italy.
