Abugidabased
Abugidabased refers to a category of writing systems that are abugidas, also known as alphasyllabaries. In an abugida, each consonant has an inherent vowel sound, typically a schwa. When a different vowel is required, a diacritic mark is added to the consonant or consonant-vowel combination. This differs from an alphabet where vowels and consonants are represented by independent letters, and from a syllabary where each symbol represents a distinct syllable.
The term "abugidabased" highlights that the underlying structure of the writing system is that of an abugida.
