Absoluutsetel

Absoluutsetel is a Dutch term that translates to "absolute zero" in English. It refers to the lowest possible temperature where all thermal motion ceases. This concept is fundamental in the field of thermodynamics and is used as a reference point for temperature scales. The absolute zero temperature is defined as exactly 0 Kelvin on the Kelvin scale, which is equivalent to -273.15 degrees Celsius or -459.67 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature, the kinetic energy of particles is at its minimum, and they do not exhibit any thermal motion. The concept of absolute zero was first proposed by the French physicist Guillaume Amontons in the 1700s, but it was not until the early 20th century that it was precisely defined and measured. The closest scientists have been able to achieve to absolute zero is approximately 100 picokelvin, using techniques such as laser cooling and evaporative cooling.
