AVlussningsrum

The avlussningsrum is a component of a sink's drainage system found in certain types of plumbing installations, primarily in Scandinavian countries. It is usually located behind the sink and serves as a chamber for wastewater to collect and drain. The term "avlussningsrum" is Swedish for "drainage room" or "excreta room".

This feature is typically found in older residential and commercial buildings equipped with traditional Swedish and Finnish plumbing systems. Its purpose is to provide a dedicated area for wastewater to accumulate before it flows into the main sewage line, thus reducing the risk of blockages and improving drainage efficiency. The avlussningsrum is usually accessed through a door or a hatch located on the wall near the sink.
