ARPEStutkimuksissa
ARPEStutkimuksissa is a Finnish research project focused on the study of the Arctic and its environmental changes. The project is part of the Academy of Finland's Research Programme on Climate Change (ILMATOIVA), which aims to enhance understanding of the climate system and its interactions with the biosphere, atmosphere, and cryosphere. ARPEStutkimuksissa specifically investigates the Arctic region, which is experiencing rapid environmental changes due to global warming. The project's objectives include studying the impacts of climate change on Arctic ecosystems, understanding the feedback mechanisms between the Arctic and global climate, and assessing the potential consequences of these changes for global climate and human societies. The research involves a multidisciplinary approach, combining fieldwork, remote sensing, and modeling techniques to analyze various aspects of the Arctic environment, such as sea ice, permafrost, and atmospheric processes. The findings of ARPEStutkimuksissa contribute to the scientific community's understanding of the Arctic's role in the global climate system and inform policy decisions aimed at mitigating and adapting to climate change. The project is led by a consortium of Finnish research institutions, including the Finnish Meteorological Institute, the University of Helsinki, and the University of Lapland.
