APAtyyli, or APA style, is a widely used system for writing and citing sources in the social and behavioral sciences. It is produced by the American Psychological Association and is designed to promote clarity, accuracy, and consistency in scholarly writing. In Finnish academic contexts, the term APA-tyyli is commonly used to refer to these guidelines.

Its core features include an in-text citation system that uses the author’s last name and publication year, with page numbers for direct quotes. The reference list provides full details of sources in alphabetical order. Manuscripts are typically double-spaced with 1-inch margins, a readable font, and a title page; headings guide the structure of the document. The 7th edition, published in 2019, remains the standard and emphasizes bias-free language, simpler punctuation for web sources, and flexible font options.

Reference entries follow specific formats: journal articles, books, and electronic sources each have distinct templates. For example, a journal article includes authors, year, article title, journal name, volume, issue, and page range, with a DOI when available. A book entry lists author, year, title, edition (if any), and publisher. A webpage may include author, date, title, site name, and a URL.

APA style is widely taught in universities and used in many Finnish universities and faculties as a standard for reporting research findings. It differs from numeric citation styles by using author-year in-text citations and a detailed reference list.
