AMsignaalista refers to an Amplitude Modulation signal. Amplitude Modulation is a technique used in electronic communication, most notably in the transmission of information over a carrier wave. In AM, the amplitude of the carrier wave is varied in proportion to the waveform of the information being transmitted. This means that the strength or height of the wave changes to represent the data.

The AM signal consists of a high-frequency carrier wave and the lower-frequency modulating signal, which is the information we want to send, such as audio. The process of modulation involves combining these two signals. The resultant AM signal has a constant frequency but a varying amplitude. At the receiving end, a demodulator extracts the original information signal by detecting the changes in the amplitude of the received AM wave.

AM broadcasting was one of the earliest and most widely used methods for transmitting radio programs. Its simplicity in both transmission and reception made it popular for long-distance communication. However, AM signals are susceptible to noise and interference, which can distort the amplitude and lead to a degradation in the quality of the transmitted information. Despite its limitations, AM remains in use for certain applications, including some shortwave radio transmissions and as a component in some digital communication systems. The concept of modulating the amplitude of a carrier wave is fundamental to understanding many radio communication principles.
