8bitperchannel
8bitperchannel is a term used in digital imaging and computer graphics to describe a color depth of 24 bits per pixel, with each of the three color channels (red, green, and blue) using 8 bits. This results in 256 possible values for each color channel, allowing for a total of 16,777,216 different colors. The term is often used interchangeably with "true color" or "24-bit color". This color depth is widely supported by modern displays and is considered sufficient for most imaging applications, including photography, digital art, and video production. However, for certain applications such as scientific visualization or high-dynamic-range imaging, higher color depths may be required.
