2Gvõrgud
2Gvõrgud, also known as second-generation mobile networks, represent a significant evolution from their analog predecessors. The transition to 2G in the early 1990s marked the introduction of digital technology to mobile communication, bringing about enhanced voice quality, increased capacity, and importantly, the capability for data transmission. Initially, 2G focused primarily on voice calls, but the development of technologies like General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) allowed for rudimentary internet access and messaging services, such as SMS and MMS.
The most prevalent 2G standard was GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), which became dominant worldwide.
