It was discovered on 12 September 2008 by the Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) survey at the Lincoln Laboratory's Experimental Test Site in Socorro, New Mexico. The provisional designation of the object was 2008 SN35 before it received the permanent number 15501597 following its orbit confirmation.

The asteroid follows a typical S‑type (silicaceous) orbit with a semimajor axis of approximately 2.84 AU and an orbital period of about 4.78 Earth years. Its orbit has a low eccentricity of around 0.07 and an inclination of about 5.6°, placing it in the central region of the main belt. Current estimates place the diameter at roughly 1.8 km, assuming a standard albedo of 0.20; however, this value may vary with future infrared observations. The rotation period has not yet been determined, but photometric light curves suggest a moderate light‑curve amplitude indicative of a non‑spherical shape.
